Here is a nice use of one of my images by one of the talented people who do composite images.

The Druids Of Moore Park (DoMP)

Yesterday when I rode through Moore Park I noted that there were circular patches of dying grass that had appeared since the morning. Grass Circles so to speak. I thought of taking a photo, but decided that the morning would be better. Serous was my mistake. For in the morning the Druids had arrived. Each circle, over 1 meter in diameter, was now a hole. In one of the holes was what I guess is a Norfolk Pine. Already over 2 meters tall. Powerful is their magic.

MSG Supper at Pendolino

For this meal we headed to the Strand Arcade to eat at Pendolino an oil and gift store and Ristorante. Before I moved to Sydney the Strand was one of my favourite visiting spot. Now I work next door on Thursdays. Pendolino was quite a move upmarket from our previous places and broke the maximum spend cap. At the beginning there was discussion about the size of the portions and how there would probably be too much food. But foolishly I ordered a main anyway.

Are cars safer in Sydney?

I have been incessantly told how dangerous it is to ride a bike in Sydney, but then, while here in Kuala Lumpur, I see the front page of the New Straits Times that a Malaysian man was murdered while driving in Sydney. I’d think that it is also very dangerous to be in a car in Sydney too. Maybe they will have to insist on better protection for drivers from random murderers like they are putting up fences to protect against the stone throwers.

Moving Hotels

Well, the time had come to move from the Tune Hotel to the Equatorial Hotel. The Tune Hotel was a modern new hotel, the Equatorial a hotel built in the 1970’s with a much higher level of comfort, but showing it’s age. To do this I walked along Jalan Sultan Ismail. I am not sure which sultan this jalan is named after. The first part of the road, around the monorail station (Medan Tuanku) and the Sheraton Imperial has a covered foot way on both sides of the road. I guess it is there becuase of the Monorail.

Tune Hotel

Some people seem a bit surprised that I would stay in a place like the Tune Hotel. But I have moved up market. Now that I have the camera and computer and stuff, I have moved on from the old backpackers and youth hostels. Though I miss those places very much. I really should check out to see of they have rooms. I spent two nights in the room.

Afternoon rain

After a nap and some surfing of the web, I headed out again. The afternoon rain had set in. It was very light, but wet enough to make me want to keep my camera in the bag to keep it dry. I headed across the road and found a large shopping centre. The shops were very up market. Though it was quite empty of people. I went up to the top floor and found a food hall. I was still working on Sydney time, so I grabbed a meal. Though it turned out to be my worst choice of the stay. I had chicken rice in a hot pot. But, halfway through the chicken, I discovered that it was not cooked properly. So I decided not to eat any more.

Wandering the old town

On my first full day in KL since 1967, I headed out by foot. I chose to wear my runners, but initially I saw some westerners and then many other people wearing thongs, so on all my later walks I wore thongs. As is always, people who give advice move way too far over to the conservative side. Perhaps it is some kind of illness. Unfortunately the new version of aperture I have not worked out how to geotag my photos en-mass and hence only a few are geotagged. (Index of all images.)

Nasi Lemak @ Uncle Johns

One of the astounding differences that exists between the people of Sydney (and strangely including the police) but not the people of Melbourne and the Malaysian Chinese is that the latter think that uncle and aunty is a honorific given to important people in relation to your family as well as people who are members or your family. Where as here in Sydney they think you are talking about the Mafia. In my culture it effectively means to the children, this is a respected adult, and if your parents are not around, you should do what this adult says.
